Filmstrip: See Hong Kong Bath and bent in neon signs

Few places in the world, neon lights shine just as strongly as in Hong Kong. The light of the tens of thousands of neon signs has helped make the former British colony famous as the Pearl of Oriental since the 50s, where neon has been a fixed part of the city and culture. The huge neon signs flank facades and high-rise buildings in the densely packed city and try to catch the attention of the more than 7 million inhabitants.

For example, in the district of Mongkok, which according to the Guinness Records is the most densely populated area in the world with 130,000 people crammed together per square kilometre. Around the clock, there is a multitude of people moving in and out of the high-rise buildings, the many demolied houses, open storefronts and narrow staircases. Above all, thousands of neon signs are illuminated from hotels, karaoke bars, restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas and small and large shops and businesses.
